Description
The Wanli blue & white Kraak Porcelain Klapmuts bowl with flattened scalloped edge. Interior the center painted Taoist Liuhai playing three-legs toad. In Chinese culture, there is a legend about Liuhai and his three-leg toad, which spits out coins to bring wealth and good lucks for people. For Kraak porcelain ware, motif with flower sprays or Taoism instruments is very often to be seen. While motif with Landscape together human and animal figure is quite rare. On the cavetto interior decorated four rotating panels with flower spray, which repeating on the rim between stylized pattern.
On the base appear the chatter marks.
This Klapmuts bowl is top-quality porcelain ware made in Jingdezhen kiln, China from the beginning of the 17th century. With thin material showing translucent.
Condition:
Almost in perfect condition, except the moth bites around the rim, which is typical feature of blue and white porcelain ware from this period. There is one hole going through the foot rim, which has been made for hanging in the old time.
