Description:
A thin potted Yingqing/Qingbai glazed bowl from South Song dynasty, 12th-13th century. This bowl is from the famous long-last producing kiln- Hutian kiln, Jingdezhen. The exterior well of the bowl has been finely incised with lotus blossom, which indicates that this bowl possibly used in front of the buddha altar offering fruits/cakes. The material of the bowl is thin, exactly as the term to describe Hutian Yingqing/Qingbai porcelain ware from Song dynasty- ‘thin as paper’ (薄如纸). The incised lotus decoration is showing clearly in the lightening. The bowl is in light weight.
The bowl covered with slight blue glaze. The glaze crackle unevenly on the surface. The glaze along the foot rim is accumulated into deep blue color.
Condition:
In very good condition. A small chip 4mmx2mm on the rim.
